An overview of spin crossover nanoparticles

Abstract

Research into spin crossover nanoparticles is now a rapidly developing field that has seen considerable progress in the last 5 years. This chapter reviews recent developments with special attention given to new syntheses of nanoparticles and the emergence of nanocrystals of molecular spin crossover (SCO) systems. Advances in nanocomposite/hybrid SCO materials are described, while the fabrication of robust electrically switchable nanodevices and molecular actuators is discussed. As a result of these advances, applications are now a step closer to reality.
