Polybenzoxazine for Hierarchical Nanoporous Materials

U. Thubsuang, T. Chaisuwan

Abstract

Designing hierarchically nanoporous carbons has become an attractive research topic due to the potential technological applications, including electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries and electrochemical capacitors, gas storage systems, sorbent for toxic gas separation, etc. Good electrical conductivity, high surface area, and excellent chemical stability are unique physicochemical properties that are responsible for micro/nanostructured porous carbon being a great candidate for emerging nanotechnologies. This chapter focuses on designing micro-, meso-, and macropore structure of polybenzoxazine-based hierarchically nanoporous carbons. The pore structure of porous materials prepared from polybenzoxazine compared with those prepared from traditional resorcinol-formaldehyde polymer is also discussed.
