Nickel tris(pyrazolyl)borate β-diketonate complexes

David J. Harding, Phimphaka Harding, Harry Adams

Abstract

Mixed ligand tris(pyrazolyl)borate and β-diketonate complexes have been prepared by reacting [TpPh2NiBr] with a β-diketone and then adding 1,8-diazabicycloundec-7ene to yield [TpPh2Ni(β-dkt)] {β-dkt = hexafluoroacetylacetonate (hfac) 1, phenylbutanedionate (pbd) 2, diphenylpropanedionate (dbm) 3, tetramethylheptanedionate (tmhd) 4}. The green solids have been characterized by IR, UV-Vis, and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Crystallographic studies of [TpPh2Ni(dbm)] reveal a five-coordinate, square pyramidal nickel centre with a κ3-coordinated Tp Ph2 ligand and a bidentate β-diketonate ligand. © Springer Science+Business Media B.V. 2011.
