Abstract

This chapter explores the sustainable and economically feasible use of alkali-activated slag (AAS) in construction for repair and protection. It offers an extensive review of AAS, highlighting its suitability focusing on strength, endurance, and resistance to various damages. This chapter also discusses the practicable producing and curing AAS, as well as the decision of metallurgical slag types, alkaline solutions, and additives that affects AAS performance. An evaluation of the pros and cons of employing AAS in construction is also included, providing insights into its practical use cases.
