The Future of E-Waste in Thailand: A Call for Effective Policy and Regulation

Amonrat Ammartsena, Sinittha Ditthapan, Papichaya Leenapaesanan

Abstract

This article examines Thailand’s inadequate laws and guidelines for E-waste management. In particular, the absence of an effective approach and key environmental principles such as extended producer responsibility and public participation have been considered. The current legal framework struggles to address the growing E-waste issue in Thai communities. The authors propose a new legal framework based on basic environmental principles, including the comprehensive participation of stakeholders (users, manufacturers, dealers, and governments) to implement more effective management strategies and mitigate adverse health, hygiene, and environmental effects.
